Two staple Regina arts and music venues were among the businesses impacted by a recent cyber attack, according to employees.

The Artesian and the Exchange have experienced issues with their websites in relation to the incident. The company responsible for the platform that hosts websites for both venues is Regina-based Squareflo.

Its website states that on May 1, 2026, the company experienced “a major incident causing numerous clients sites to go down.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, the websites for both entertainment venues were still down.

Leah Erenberg, the Artesian’s artistic director, responded to a Leader-Post inquiry by writing in an email that the incident caused an “inconvenience,” as tickets weren’t available on the venue’s website for around a week.

“We didn’t have any sensitive information on our website, which is positive, and we were looking to upgrade our website soon anyways,” Erenberg wrote.

She noted that Squareflo provided customers with information about the incident and what was being done to remedy the situation. However, she said the Artesian has chosen a new website provider.

Zandra Kas, manager and artistic director of the Exchange, said the incident has had a similar impact at her venue and she understands the website company is working to get customers up and running.

“Cyber attacks happen all the time. It’s unfortunate,” she said in an interview, noting the Exchange did a “quick fix” in order to continue selling tickets via an associated site.

Kas said it was her understanding that the local venues were not specifically targeted.

An artificial intelligence-based virtual assistant responds to calls to the phone number listed on Squareflo’s website.

“Thanks for reaching out. We don’t handle media inquiries over the phone,” the AI stated following a Leader-Post request to speak with a company representative.

The virtual assistant suggested contacting Squareflo by email. However, an email to the company inquiring about the incident did not garner a response prior to deadline.
