Imee Marcos to regulatory agencies: Do your jobs

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Imee Marcos urged the Department of Information and Communications Technology, Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center and the National Telecommunications Commission to enforce their mandates as regulatory agencies and ensure that young people are not exposed to online platforms and dark web communities that espouse violence.

In her privilege speech during the plenary session on Wednesday, Marcos said finger-pointing should stop, as she called for a whole of government approach to curb school violence.

She also called on the Department of Trade and Industry to tighten its efforts and monitor selling of violent materials online.

“Let us all do our part because this is not the first time and this will not be the last time that this will happen. We need to stop this as soon as possible,” Marcos said.

Marcos made the call in light of two separate campus shooting incidents in Tacloban and Zamboanga City.
