Jaguar Land Rover grappled with the consequences of a cyberattack last year and was forced to shut down several factories as a result. There is no attack now, but it will still be very quiet at the Solihull factory for the foreseeable future.
That cyberattack in February was seriously miserable for Jaguar Land Rover, which suffered a substantial loss in the last quarter of 2025. This is largely because it simply could not produce cars for a month. Undoubtedly, strange choices are being made, particularly at Jaguar, but for cars like the Land Rover Defender, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover, a lack of demand is usually not the problem.
Now there are problems again, only not caused by a targeted attack. The Financial Times reports that JLR is halting production of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport until April 8 due to problems at a supplier who is unable to deliver apparently essential parts. As a result, the production lines in Solihull will be shut down for at least two weeks in total, although the last five days were already scheduled as an ‘Easter break.’ JLR told the Financial Times that it is working closely with the supplier in question to find a quick and effective solution. We understand that Land Rover cannot afford another serious setback after the ‘disaster year’ 2025.
